STOUGHTON — Charter Review Committee outlined three potential amendments to the town's election system. Chair Amy Puliafico stated that the preliminary election cost $20,000 to $30,000 this year with no cost savings over a standard local election. Town Clerk Reggie Medeiro-Kowalczykwski noted that Stoughton is among the few towns with preliminary elections and that consolidating to a single polling place would allow significant reduction in poll workers.
The committee plans to conduct a voter survey, hold a public meeting, and present its findings to the Select Board. Committee member Robin Zoll will invite a Canton representative to discuss that town's recent election-timing initiative.
