Seven committee members met to advance charter-change work, with Chair Amy Puliafico scheduling an April 13 meeting with other town committees to discuss a proposed quorum definition, and Vice Chair Lawrence Sauer raising the possibility of rank-choice voting to replace preliminary elections. Warren Loew expressed concerns about voting-system complexity.
The committee agreed to gather information on preliminary elections and alternatives, including run-off voting and election timing, for a June discussion. Preliminary elections cost approximately $10,000 per election.
