Finance Committee continues public hearings on May town meetings

Stoughton Finance Committee continued public hearings on ten Community Preservation Committee projects requesting approximately $3.8 million at the May 4 annual and special town meetings. Chair Carolyn Campbell presided over presentations from Library Director Christopher McGhee, Council of Aging Director Janiece Bruce, and Recreation Director Matt Cauchon on departmental budgets, while CPC-funded proposals ranged from $150,000 for fire truck restoration to $827,275 for soccer field drainage remediation. Seven youth speakers testified on the condition of Kolz Soccer Fields, where games have been suspended due to drainage problems and field degradation.
The committee voted unanimously to continue the hearings to March 25 at 7:00 PM, deferring final votes on eight additional articles to a future agenda.
