Finance Committee holds public hearings on FY27 operating budget and capital requests.

STOUGHTON — Finance Committee unanimously continues public hearings on FY27 budget and capital items for May town meetings. Chair Carolyn Campbell and twelve members reviewed Fire Department requests for a $1.23 million truck and $450,000 in life safety equipment; Police Department capital of $465,000 for cruisers, drone, cameras, and Tasers; and a police station feasibility study examining the current Rose Street location, the town armory, and a Washington Street site, with town officials noting that any project must remain under $30 million to protect Stoughton's bond rating. Public Health Director Janet Crimmins outlined a reorganization reducing nursing staff from eleven to three full-time positions as part of a new Public Health Collaborative model.
The committee voted unanimously to continue both public hearings to March 12, 2026.
