STOUGHTON — Finance Committee opens hearings on $91.9 million FY27 budget. Chair Carolyn Campbell and the committee unanimously opened public hearings on the annual and special town meetings scheduled for May 4, advancing the operating budget, departmental reviews, and seven proposed articles including property tax billing changes, expanded debt collection authority, and broadened trust fund investment scope. Financial Director Elizabeth Zaleski, retiring March 31, introduced successor Heidi Chuklan and reported free cash of $10.661 million, property tax revenue projected at $91.882 million, and a property tax levy of $96.750035 million.
The committee reviewed departmental requests including a 1.29 percent increase for the Treasurer/Collector office and a new Town Accountant salary of $185,000 for six months and $190,000 thereafter to bring compensation to market rate.
