Planning Board approves sign permit; delays church hearing to April

STOUGHTON — Planning Board greenlights sign permit, endorses rezone article, defers church ruling. The board unanimously approved a special permit allowing a freestanding sign at 614 Park Street to sit 3.2 feet from the property line instead of the required 15 feet. In a separate vote, members unanimously accepted a citizen petition to rezone 14 parcels on Pleasant Street and Lowe Avenue from General Business to Residential Suburban C zoning for the Town Meeting warrant.
The board deferred its decision on Day Spring Chapel's 22,500-square-foot church project at 1076 Central Street to April 23 after residents of the adjacent Hemisphere Gardens complex raised concerns about wetlands removal, increased traffic, parking spillover, and flooding risk; Town Planner William D. Roth, Jr., and Assistant Town Engineer Craig Horsfall also identified deficiencies in site plans and parking justification requiring revision.
