Planning Board continues school project, hears two senior housing pitches

STOUGHTON — Planning Board continues new elementary school hearing to April 23. The Town of Stoughton's 101,590-square-foot school project on Distefano Way, represented by Samiotes Consultants Inc., remains under review with applicants presenting updated traffic, stormwater, parking, and utility plans; Chair Daniel Kelly raised concerns about inadequate lighting at a dead-end street past the site that could create a cut-through once paved. The board also heard concept presentations from Roberta Harback on a senior development at 75 Lambert Ave on town-owned property zoned RC, and from Jeff Smeta of United Group Diversified Development on a 150-unit 55-plus rental community at 850 Park Street; Chair Kelly said the latter project is in the wrong zoning and would require Select Board support and an overlay district before the Planning Board would consider it, and Vice Chair Paul DeMusz objected to the proposed four-story height.
