School Committee approves non-participation in School Choice; names subcommittee for elementary school.

Stoughton School Committee unanimously declines state School Choice program. Superintendent Dr. Joseph Baeta recommended against participation, and the committee voted to keep the district closed to inbound School Choice students for 2026-2027.

The committee also unanimously established a temporary subcommittee comprising Ms. Jillian Distefano and Dr. Jenn Sears to oversee naming of the new elementary school building, with a special hearing scheduled for April 28, 2026.

The full committee met in executive session before reconvening to vote. The committee approved the amended February 10, 2026 minutes unanimously, with Ms. Karen Powers abstaining on the March 3 minutes, which passed 4-0-1.
