Youth Soccer League Pushes For Kolz Field Drainage Overhaul
Stoughton Youth Soccer League is asking the community to get behind a proposed overhaul of the Kolz Field Complex, its home fields, which the league says suffer from poor drainage and frequent closures.
STOUGHTON --
YOUTH LEAGUES -- Stoughton Youth Soccer League (SYSL) is asking residents to back a plan to revitalize the Kolz Field Complex, the league's home turf, saying the fields "lack adequate drainage, often leading to field closure which negatively impacts schedules." According to the league's website, the Stoughton Community Preservation Committee has approved a grant for the improvements, but the funding still needs sign-off at the May 2026 Annual Town Meeting. The planned work includes tilling and laser-grading the ground, adding soil to improve drainage, and replacing old fencing and goals. If approved, the league's posted timeline calls for environmental surveys and permitting to begin this fall, with one field closing for remediation in spring 2027, reopening that summer, and the second field following the same process before the project wraps up in spring 2028. SYSL says it also must raise an additional $40,000 as part of the grant agreement and plans to launch a fundraising push in the spring. Separately, the league announced its online store is open, with 10% of purchases going back to support the league. SYSL serves Pre-K through grade 11 players in in-house and travel programs.
