Planning Board · Meeting of August 13, 2026

STOUGHTON — The Stoughton Planning Board continued a contentious public hearing on a 330-unit zoning overlay for the former Sinai Hospital site at 150 York Street to September 24 after more than twenty residents objected. Developer Berkeley Investment Group, represented by attorney Peter Tamm of Goulston & Storrs, proposed 307 market-rate apartments and 23 affordable senior townhomes, projecting "an additional million dollars in net new revenue" annually and a 13-to-14-acre land donation to the town. Resident Paul Smit argued current zoning would allow only 111 units, not 330, and that impervious surface would cover 90 percent of the developed footprint.

In separate business, the board voted 3-2, with Chairman Daniel Kelly and member Paul Beliveau dissenting, to rescind a rooftop HVAC screening requirement at 19 Camden Street, and approved unanimously a minor site plan for a new Santa Fe Burrito Grill at 577 Washington Street. A Canton Street industrial project was continued to September 24 as well.
