Select Board OKs stop signs for risky intersection
Select Board · Meeting of September 22, 2026
Stoughton Select Board unanimously endorses a redesign of its most dangerous intersection and clears the way for a new street named for a Civil War veteran. Chaired by Joseph M. Mokrisky, the board voted 5-0 on all items, backing stop-sign and curb changes at the Morton, Wyman and Summer streets intersection, which Vice Chair Debra Roberts said she navigates "probably 20 times a day" and called one of the town's most dangerous because "nobody cares." The board also named a new 20-unit development's access road "Peck Lane," honoring Civil War veteran Rufus Peck, opened the Fall Special Town Meeting warrant, discontinued an unused cul-de-sac right-of-way at 97 Eagle Rock Road, and renamed the library's main lobby the Wales French Atrium.
MAPC's Julie Curdie told the board the town's completed Climate Action Resilience Plan came in under budget, returning $32,450 of a $50,000 Town Meeting appropriation; no endorsement vote was taken on the plan.
