Stoughton Select Board Delays SMAC Public Hearing to February 26

STOUGHTON — January 29, 2026 — Stoughton Select Board votes 4-0 to continue a months-old SMAC public hearing to February 26. The board, meeting Thursday for just four minutes, continued an open public hearing on SMAC — Stoughton's community access television station — that has been pending since October 9, 2025. Chair John Cavey said the delay was requested by SMAC and attributed it to outstanding paperwork, adding that the station "has been a really great partner through this." Member John Carrera was absent. In separate remarks, Vice Chair Cynthia Roberts relayed that Comcast retired public-access Channel 9 on January 13, 2026; SMAC programming is now available in high definition on Comcast Channel 1073, a change that does not affect Verizon subscribers.
