Stoughton Select Board elects McCriskey chair, Roberts vice chair after swearing-in ceremony

STOUGHTON — April 9, 2026 — Stoughton Select Board reorganizes, electing Joe McCriskey as chair and Deborah Roberts as vice chair. The brief Thursday evening meeting, held in the Town Hall Great Hall alongside a Finance Committee session, opened with the swearing in of re-elected member Deborah Roberts and newly elected member Lori Jakes, fulfilling a Town Charter requirement that newly elected members be sworn in within 48 hours of polls closing. Town Manager Robin Calder oversaw the nomination process for chair, with member Steve Kavey nominating McCriskey; the vote was four in favor, zero opposed, with John Carrera abstaining. Roberts then nominated herself for vice chair and was elected on the same four-to-zero margin with Carrera again abstaining. McCriskey, after receiving the gavel, pledged to sustain the board's collaborative relationship with the Finance Committee, which was meeting simultaneously in the same room to work through the town's fiscal year 2027 budget.
