Stoughton Energy & Sustainability Committee approves 2025 meeting minutes and advances Specialized Building Code article. Chair David Billo and the five-member committee plan to submit the article to the Select Board by January 20 for inclusion in the spring warrant, with legal review to follow. The code applies only to new construction and would not require homeowners to replace existing gas or oil systems; member Nathan Cleveland noted that all-electric construction carries no cost premium once gas line savings are factored in.
The committee is also tracking two pending grants: the DOER Decarbonization Roadmap award and the MAPC Technical Assistance Grant for code education and outreach, with decisions expected early 2026.
